The
Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)
As of May 2024, the FCC has officially closed Affordable Connectivity Program.
Impact of ACP on LGBTQ+ Community
The Affordable Connectivity Program was an FCC federal benefit program that helped ensure that households could afford access to the internet services they needed for work, school, healthcare and more. In May 2024, the FCC officially closed the ACP after congress failed to re-fund this important benefit. At the time of the closing, over 21 million households across the US were enrolled.
Through our research we were able to estimate that close to 10 million LGBTQ+ households across the US were eligible to receive this important benefit. This number highlights the digital divide currently facing the LGBTQ+ community.
