What is the Digital Navigator Program?
The Digital Navigator Program helps LGBTQ+ individuals build the digital skills they need to thrive. From cybersecurity education to broadband advocacy, we’re working to ensure that every LGBTQ+ person can access the tools, training, and support they need to feel safe, confident, and connected in the digital world.

Who
The Digital Navigator Program serves the entire LGBTQ+ community with resources tailored specifically for LGBTQ+ centers and organizations as well as individuals of all ages. This program also aims to provide tangible resources and insights for allied organizations such as digital equity policy makers, researchers, and community leaders to help create more inclusive initiatives to bridge the LGBTQ+ digital divide.
What
The DN program provides digital literacy education, cybersecurity resources, and advocacy for affordable broadband access to ensure LGBTQ+ individuals can navigate the digital world safely, confidently, and inclusively. It supplements the PowerOn Program’s technology distribution by offering support and resources for lasting digital inclusion.
Why
Despite LGBTQ+ communities facing some of the largest barriers to access to broadband, technology devices, and digital literacy, there is still little attention given to the LGBTQ+ digital divide by local, state, and federal agencies and organization. The Digital Navigator Program aims to help spread awareness and resources to help bridge the digital divide for LGBTQ+ communities nationwide.
What is a Digital Navigator?
The Digital Navigator Model was developed by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) along with Digital Inclusion community members. This model serves as a baseline for all Digital Navigator Programs.
According to NDIA, “Digital navigators are trusted guides who assist community members with ongoing, individualized support for accessing affordable and appropriate connectivity, devices, and digital skills.”

Digital Inclusion for LGBTQ+ Communities
Understanding the digital divide facing the LGBTQ+ community, and having data that can be used to advocate and educate others about this growing issue is an important component of working to keep LGBTQ+ communities safer online and to begin to bridge the LGBTQ+ digital divide.
For the LGBTQ+ community, the three main components of that make up the digital divide; Access to technology, access to the internet, and digital literacy training are all perched behind significant and often intersectional barriers that creates a growing divide for the LGBTQ+ and the rest of the population.
The LGBT Tech Digital Navigator Program is designed to help address critical issues for the LGBTQ+ community.
Broadband Access
For the LGBTQ+ community, especially today, having private, safe, and affordable access to the internet can be a life saving necessity.
Device Access
Having access to personal devices to access the internet is a lifesaving necessity for LGBTQ+ communities, and having access to a personal device helps to increase access to online health services, housing resources, career opportunities, educational programs, online community spaces, and more.
